Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 14, 2026
Overview
ScanDue ("we", "our", or "the app") is built to help you track important dates. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and how it is used.
Data We Collect
We collect the minimal data necessary to operate the app:
- Device ID — A random identifier generated on your device and stored in the iOS Keychain. Used to enforce scan rate limits and link your subscription. It is never tied to your personal identity.
- Images you scan — Sent to our server for AI processing and immediately discarded. We do not store your images.
- Scan count — The number of AI scans you have used this month, stored server-side against your device ID to enforce usage limits.
- Subscription status — Verified via RevenueCat to determine whether your device has an active Pro subscription.
- Crash reports and errors — Sent to Sentry to help us fix bugs. These reports do not include your images or event content.
Data We Do NOT Collect
- Your name, email address, or any personal identity
- The events or dates you track — all event data is stored locally on your device
- Your location
- Your contacts or calendar contents
- Any data for advertising purposes
Third-Party Services
ScanDue uses the following third-party services:
- OpenAI — AI model used to extract information from images you scan. Images are sent to this service and not stored.
- RevenueCat — Manages in-app subscriptions. See RevenueCat's Privacy Policy.
- Sentry — Error tracking and crash reporting. See Sentry's Privacy Policy.
- Upstash Redis — Stores scan counts and subscription cache server-side.
Data Storage and Security
Event data you create in ScanDue is stored exclusively on your device using local storage (SQLite). It is never uploaded to our servers. Your device ID and scan counts are stored on our server (Vercel / Upstash) and protected by industry-standard security practices.
Data Retention
Scan count data is automatically deleted after 35 days. Subscription cache is cleared after 1 hour. We do not retain any images or personal data.
Children's Privacy
ScanDue is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.
Your Rights
Since we do not collect personal data tied to your identity, there is nothing to request, correct, or delete beyond what is described above. If you have concerns, please contact us.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
